How to Open a Dispensary in Michigan

Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) is in the process of implementation of the regulatory framework created by the Michigan and Taxation Regulations Ratification of Marihuana Act (MRTMA). Emergency rule has been submitted and will remain in effect until January 3, 2020.

In 2016, Michigan passed a series of bills (HB4209, HB4210 and HB4827, collectively Marihuana Medical Facilities Licensing Act or MMFLA) to implement medical marijuana licensing and authorization process commercial, regulated system.

This provides an additional source of drugs for medical marijuana patients who previously had to cultivate his own, under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (Proposal I) in 2008. Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation (BMMR) began to receive medical marijuana license application on 15 December 2017.

License Types of Recreational Marijuana

Proposal 1 mandates that Michigan LARA establishes, awards, and regulate recreational marijuana following types of conditions:

  • Marijuana retailers (Marijuana Supply Center)
  • safety compliance facility cannabis
  • Marijuana secure transporter
  • Class A grower of cannabis cultivation authorization of no more than 100
  • the cannabis plant
  • Class B cannabis grower cultivating authorization of no more than 500
  • the cannabis plant
  • Class C cannabis grower cultivating authorization of no more than 2,000
  • the cannabis plant
